Losing weight is tough enough for most of us. But for some weight-conscious celebrities, slimming in the spotlight can be even harder. This lot did it though!
Famously curvy Nigella, 51, has dropped from a size 18 to a 12.
According to reports, she lost the weight on the Clean and Lean plan, devised by trainer James Duigan who also looks after Elle Macpherson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
The diet is based around fish, lean poultry and vegetables and people on the plan also have supplements and diet shakes.
After going up five dress sizes before giving birth to son Bobby in February 2010, Jennifer Ellison regained her size 8 figure this year after losing five stone.
She described herself as a “hippo mama” when she ballooned to a size 18, but now the 5ft 7in actress is sharing her secrets in a fitness DVD called Fat Blaster Workout, which is out on Boxing Day.
Reflecting on her weight gain, Jennifer, 28, said: “I got huge. I looked like a hippo. I had absolutely no idea how I had ballooned during my pregnancy. All I thought about was eating plenty of food to keep my baby healthy.”
Often referred to as a “roly-poly” comedienne, Dawn, 54, is fast losing that reputation after recently shedding four stone.
At the Galaxy National Book Awards in London last month, she beamed in a sheer black knee-length dress and black heels.
Her new look is a far cry from the cuddly Dawn French of old, who once famously said: “There are two types of women: the ones who like chocolate and complete bitches.”
She’s now 16 stone, down from 20, and revealed: “I’m eating healthily, taking care of myself and feeling very happy. I want to go to Pilates classes, too.”
Dawn, who is now single after splitting from husband Lenny Henry, 53, last year, now only has an occasional Cadbury Fruit & Nut bar and has
given up chips, opting instead for salads.

The Birds of a Feather actress definitely deserves to pop the champers after losing a massive eight stone this year.
For the first time in decades, Pauline, 52, weighs a healthy 11 stone.
She decided to conquer her weight after doctors said she needed a hip replacement. She was also mortified when she had to ask for a seat belt extension on a plane.
At her heaviest, Pauline weighed 19 stone and was a size 28. She has followed the LighterLife diet strictly since last January.
“I know the whole world starts their diet in January and most stop by March but I was determined,” she said.
After years of fad diets, everyone’s favourite Welsh lady Ruth Jones lost four and a half stone the old-fashioned way – by simply counting calories for 22 long months.
And in November, the actress, 45, proudly unveiled her new size 12 figure.
As Nessa in sitcom Gavin & Stacey, which she co-wrote with James Corden, she made a virtue of her size 24 curves. But after years of feeling genuinely happy, she decided to lose weight.
She said: “I came back from holiday in January 2010 and we all overdo it on holiday, don’t we? Something just clicked, I felt this is now or never, I wanted to make a change.
“I’ve done loads of diets in my time but I have never done it the old-fashioned way – taking in less calories than I was using.
“And I mean LOADS of diets – the F-plan diet... remember that? It brought jacket potatoes back in fashion! And the CaveWoman Diet – meat, fish and veg. I went to loads of slimming groups, too.”
Ruth, who lives in Cardiff with her husband David Peet, gave herself a strict calorie intake. While a woman’s average recommendation is 2,000 a day, Ruth limited herself to between 1,200 and 1,500.
“Some days are better than others,” she said. “I realised I was going to have to be patient. If you’ve got a few stones to lose (seven in my case!) then it’s going to take time.”
